Larry Bagnell

The Hon. Larry Bagnell, P.C., presently M.P. for Yukon, served from 2000-2011. Larry was appointed to the Privy Council (P.C.), and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs (2003-2004), and the Minister of Natural Resources (2004-2005). Parliamentary Committee work included Transport, Defence, Industry, Veterans Affairs, Justice & Human Rights, Aboriginal Affairs, and Tibet, and he was Co-Founder and Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Burma, Co-chair of Outdoors Caucus, and Chair of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and International Development Caucus.

Larry is widely-regarded as a dedicated, respectful, and hard-working M.P. Peers selected him on multiple occasions as the hardest working M.P. in Canada, and he was also recognized as the best constituency M.P. in the country.

Larry’s community service was recognized in 1999, when he was named City of Whitehorse Volunteer of the Year. He also served as President of the Yukon United Way, President of Yukon Learn (Literacy), and President of the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre (First Nation).
Memberships included; Miles Canyon Historic Railway Society, Yukon Science Institute, and the Commissioner’s Potlatch.

Current committees; Chair of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, Liaison Committee, and Vice-chair of the International Committee of Parliamentarians from all the Arctic Nations.
