In the North, small businesses make a big impact. Small businesses directly contribute to their communities and provide jobs for local residents.
Small businesses in Yukon will continue to grow and succeed thanks to a government investment of more than $247,200 in the Yukon Business Development Program.
The funding was announced today by Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CanNor and the Honourable Ranj Pillai, Deputy Premier, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Minister of Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation and the Yukon Energy Corporation.
This investment in the Yukon Business Development Program will allow Yukon businesses to receive the expert advice needed to help them reach the next level of commercialization. The program will be administered by the Yukon Department of Economic Development, with involvement from the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.
Investing in this initiative secures increased access to business advisory services and innovative approaches that contribute to economic growth and diversification in Yukon.
“Here in the Yukon, small businesses make a big impact, by directly supporting the livelihood of our communities. Yukon small businesses have been lobbying for a program that will help accelerate growth, improve operational efficiency, and help them expand into export markets. This business development program will provide access to expert advice and support that will help small businesses reach the next level of commercial success!”
– Hon. Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon
“We have worked with the Yukon business community to make this program accessible to Yukon entrepreneurs. It will provide Yukon businesses with access to expertise, connections and guidance – which in turn supports our diverse, growing economy and provides good jobs for Yukoners.”
– Ranj Pillai, Minister of Economic Development, Government of Yukon
- For the Yukon Business Development Program, CanNor is providing $172,000 and Government of Yukon’s contribution is $75,200 for the 2017/18 fiscal year.
